Opportunities for Collaboration

Volunteer Through WWOOF

For a lower commitment trial, or a reprieve from your normal schedule, consider coming out for a shorter-term work trade.

Our WWOOF schedule is designed to allow our volunteers time to immerse in hands-on learning while still awarding you time to explore your own passions and adventure. Our crew gathers Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. WWOOFers are asked to join us from 7am-1pm, working either in the gardens, on carpentry projects, or misc. tasks. WWOOFers end the day with a heartfully crafted lunch from our land and other local farms. There is a coffee/tea and snack break daily around 10am, as well.

WWOOFers will participate in planting, maintaining and harvesting crops at the farm. There are building projects happening here including a timber frame/post and beam pavilion built from on-site trees (we have a sawmill) and shelter building. WWOOFers will be able to participate and learn aspects of everything from basic carpentry to off grid systems to tree work and milling.

This season we have a dual focus of carpentry projects (shelter building/farm infrastructure) and many experiments in the gardens (medicinal herbs, staple crop polycultures, market gardens, and perennial systems.)

Our goal is to provide food for our own meals and for retreats, as well as small batch products and selling some to a local indoor farmers market.

We're currently accepting applications throughout mid-April, May, June, July, August, September, and November.

Please let us know what you are interested in learning most so we can see if it will be a good fit during the time you want to come. There is usually a diversity of tasks and projects available year-round.

If you are interested in learning more about volunteering with us in 2025, please drop us a line with any questions and check out our WWOOF profile.

Short Term Work

Are you a skilled craftsperson or farmer looking for intermittent employment between gigs?

Short term work opportunities, one-to-three-month commitments for 2025 are now available. Potential for employment in future.

Short term workers will be primarily focused on our timber frame/post and beam pavilion as well as shelter building. This project utilizes all bulk material from the surrounding forest and milled on our horizontal bandsaw mill. There is no plywood or OSB in the building, rather we are making tongue and groove and shiplap sheathing boards. For a paid work opportunity you must be comfortable around power tools, but various levels of experience can be utilized, as we often work in pairs with a more senior person and a less experienced person.

The short term paid workers will be focused on the building project but occasionally may be asked to jump in on a bulk farming hit, if we are moving a bunch of compost or mulch or doing a large seeding or transplanting day.

No frills housing will be free for short term workers, such as tents or any available simple cabins, however we do have access to a communal on grid house within 2 miles of site in which there may be a room available to calculate as part of compensation. Bulk food, just like for WWOOFers, is included for those staying on site. Off-site is wonderful too for paid workers, and you will still get to enjoy lunch with the group every work day and may be asked to occasionally chef it up.

Short term workers are expected to work longer days, which will be dependent on weather and milestones for the week. We still will have our primary focus on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and prefer to work longer days on those days and keep Wednesday and weekends free barring anything out of the ordinary, but things like renting an earth moving machine or getting metal roofing on before a storm might warrant occasional work on Wednesday or Saturday. There is some flexibility, figure 30-40 hours.
